Published by ![]() Walk through the Lower Mainland without retracing your steps. Maps and complete instructions detail how to reach and follow each of the book's one-way walks. Leave your car at the end of the planned day's walk, bus to the start and walk back to your car. Or use the bus and leave your car at home. The first set of day-trips--Walk the Fraser--leads in easy stages from the Fraser River's North Arm to Mission, passing historic settlements along Simon Fraser's river. Side trips explore the Pitt River and the Fraser River's South Arm. The second set--Walk Burrard--follow green ravines and dikes around Burrard Inlet, exploring the area opened up by the settlers who came on the transcontinental railway. Side trips go up and around Burnaby Mountain. The third set--Walk Horseshoe Bay to the USA and beyond--follow the western coastline, exploring the maritime communities first seen by the settlers arriving by sea. From the Peace Arch, it crosses quiet farmlands to reach Fort Langley, completing the loop back to Simon Fraser's river. Walk all three sets, perhaps one each year, and you will truly know the region and have the Lower Mainland at your feet. Now available - |
